Canada’s Venture Capital Action Plan
The Government of Canada's initiative to support growth if new business and SME's in Canada may have missed the mark. By trying to stimulate large Venture Capital Funds of Funds that typically don't invest in SME's until they have a strong revenue stream which is the point at which that company needs less support. These new funds won't finance the new entrepreneur trying to get their business off the ground. Some of the Venture Capital initiative should have gone into supporting Exempt Market industry participants who create and support an infrastructure that truly helps finance SME's.

Why its so hard for some businesses to grow in Canada
In the startup world, it’s all about risk and reward. Many entrepreneurs abandon secure, well-paying jobs to chart their own destiny – and take a courageous gamble where the winner often takes all or nothing. With minimal capital, runway and resources, every decision an entrepreneur makes carries hefty risk. This is particularly pertinent in Canada given the very limited capital available to scale up early-stage companies.
